Shakira to perform in Lebanon at the Cedars International Festival
BEIRUT: Award-winning singer and songwriter Shakira will perform at the Cedars International Festival (CIF) in Lebanon on July 13, as part of her El Dorado World Tour according to the National News Agency.
In a statement released Wednesday, CIF announced that Shakira would be part of the opening ceremony on Friday, July 13, in line with the festival's goal to "honour national figures and symbols."
The festival is "seeking to attract expats and locals fellow Arabs to bolster Lebanon's tourism sector."
It is expecting to attract over 14,000 visitors in cooperation with Bchare's municipality.
Wassim Salhibi, Head of International partnerships at Anghami, said that he's "confident that the Shakira concert will be exceptional, especially as it is organized and implemented by ICE Events which continues to attract world stars through Anghami to enjoy the atmosphere of Lebanon and the Middle East."
Shakira, who has won 14 Grammy awards throughout her career, was born in Colombia in 1977 to a Lebanese father.
Her marriage to Barcelona football Gerard Pique in 2011 was a widely publicized affair due to her previous allegiance to Real Madrid C.F
